A proper study of chemistry, I believe, should make it fairly obvious that a massive increase in carbon dioxide in our atmosphere will change our atmosphere's properties. That's my view on global warming. (Well of course I have more to say than that, but that is what I say when people say it's impious or arrogant or scaremongering to suggest that global warming is taking place.)
The sad thing about living in Pembrokeshire is that you pretty well need a car, unless you're prepared to waste most of your day and salary on public transport. When I lived in Norwich and Granada I walked everywhere; likewise in Brighton, though I also had a bus pass and could hop on and off buses if it was raining. The public transport is one of the many uplifting things I find about London!
There are compensations in a rural environment, however: for one thing, your firewood is free. My mum has specific places for all the firewood in her woodshed, and she leaves it to dry out in there for a year or more before using it. She also got us a fireplace with the twiddly top flattened. The guy who sold it to us laughed at the idea of us cooking on it - until he burnt his hand. It really does cook things (not to mention give me a heart attack when my cats decide to climb on it after I've lit a fire).
I'm in the Woodland Trust, but I kind of wish I could jump on a ship and help out with something like
this: an amazing story!
